My name is Wanda Dillard. I have been a glass bead artist for about seven years. I have produced commissioned work for country music stars and plain every day people. This is a part of my life that I don't think I could live without. It is a challenge and fulfilling. My studio is at my home in Alabama. I take my art very seriously. I want to create beautiful, valuable, sturdy beads that will become family heirlooms and treasures.
I handcraft each bead with glass, silver, gold and other components. I use effetre, moretti, delphi, dichro and other glass to create my work. I anneal each bead in a paragon digitally controlled kiln for strength and durability. You may find beads that are mass produced a lot cheaper, but I assure you most of them will break because they have not been properly annealed. Also, if you purchase the mass produced beads, you will find a white chalky substance in the bead hole. This substance is bead release that has not been cleaned off of the bead. Bead release can be toxic. I clean each bead with a diamond bit cleaner. When you purchase beads from a self representing artist, you may pay a higher price, but you are getting quality, strength and durability and a bead that cannot be duplicated. A one of a kind.
